Time to plan for the New York Spring Dairy Carousel April 8-11 in Syracuse at the New York State Fairgrounds. The 2010 event drew participation from 15 states and Canada and 2011 looks to be every bit as exciting.
The New York Spring Dairy Carousel kicks off Friday, April 8 with the Youth Showmanship Contest at 11:00 a.m. At 2:00 p.m. the Junior Judging Contest, sponsored by the Farm Credit Northeast AgEnchancement, takes place. At 6:00 p.m. will be the Protein Breeds Sale.
The New York Junior Holstein Show starts at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9. Juniors will present animals to Judge Chris Lahmers, Marysville, OH. At 1:00p.m. Robert Jarrell Coryville, Ontario will officiate the Guernsey Show while Lahmers will place the Ayrshires. At 4:00 p.m. the New York Spring Holstein Sale sponsored by the New York Holstein Association and managed by The Cattle Exchange of Delhi, NY gets rolling. The day concludes with the fun-filled Junior Olympics & Pizza Party for the juniors.
Four shows will take space on Sunday, April 10. The Red & Whites and Jerseys start at 9:00 a.m. These shows are judged by Lahmers and Jarrell, respectively. At 1:00p.m Brian Carscadden of Guelph, Ontario, places the Milking Shorthorn and Jarrell will line-up the Brown Swiss.
Rounding out the four days of the New York Spring Dairy Carousel on Monday, April 11 is the prestigious New York International Spring Holstein Show at 8:00 a.m. Brian Carscadden has the judging honors. All cattle are released at the end of the Holstein Show.

Camper/RV hookups are available at $30 per day. Reservations and pre-payment are required.
Food is available in the coliseum and admission is free so come one and all to the 2011 New York Spring Dairy Carousel.
